Talking to the kids...

I love this video for a few reasons. Reason the first is that it’s a great song, by a great band. Then I like how there’s an air of mystery about it since we never find out why they’re all laying down. And the final reason is that I’m sure one of the guys on the floor is Chairman Jerry Block from classic Sky One footballing soap Dream Team.

Jerry Block: Harchester chairman, and also likes laying down listening to Radiohead.Say what you will about Dream Team; be it that it was crass, poorly written, laughably acted, with literally incredible storylines, but… wait, why did I watch it? I still remember the day when Jerry Block found out that his star Argentinian striker Luis Amor Rodriguez (yeah, I know) was banging his wife. Oh man, he was livid. You know what he did? No, he didn’t divorce the cheating bitch on the grounds of adultery so she’d get nothing. No, he didn’t drag her name through the mud in the tabloids to ruin her reputation. And no, he certainly didn’t go to marriage counselling.

No, he hired a sniper to shoot Rodriguez. Not when he was heading to the paper shop on a Sunday morning, or when he was out walking his dog. He hired the sniper to shoot him at Wembley, during the FA Cup Final that his team were playing in. Yeah, Wembley, surrounded by the law, no easy way out, cameras everywhere, 60,000 witnesses, Wembley. Of course, the sniper missed and accidentally capped the Harchester (yeah, that was the team) captain John Black (who was actually black) and old Jerry had to try to escape to a non-extradition country. Oh wait yeah that was why I watched Dream Team.

It was sad because Harchester had just won the cup, and Black had just lifted it, only to seconds later be gunned down by a mercenary on a revenge mission. That kinda brings Donkey Adams accidentally breaking Steve Morrow’s arm after winning the cup into perspective, doesn’t it?

So… yeah what was this about? Oh right, Radiohead.
